Restylane Lift®: The First and Only FDA-Approved Filler

Fillers fo cheeks & forehead

Restylane Lift®: The First and Only FDA-Approved Filler. We live in a facial contouring-crazed society and right now, it’s all about sculpted, high cheekbones, full lips and a defined jawline. Normally, it would take hours of makeup application to achieve this look – and almost as long to remove the numerous cosmetic layers, but now you can plump up with dermal filler instead. Restylane Lyft was approved last month by the FDA to increase volume in the cheek area and smooth out nasolabial folds. It is an injectable gel and the first and only FDA-approved treatment for these concerns.

Restylane Lyft is recommended for patients over the age of 21 with contour deformities in their cheeks from volume loss due to aging or weight loss. “Restylane Lyft with Lidocaine can also be used to correct moderate to severe facial folds like the nasolabial folds, commonly known as the smile lines.

What results can you expect from this treatment? In a clinical trial involving 200 patients, investigators observed that 88.7% of patients treated with Restylane Lyft showed an improvement in fullness in the right and left midface areas (combined) at 2 months, and more than half maintained improvement for 12 months. Additionally, 95% of patients reported improvement with the appearance of their mid-face at 2 months and 73% of patients reported improvement at 12 months. The most common adverse events observed in the trial included: tenderness, redness, bruising, swelling and itching. These events decreased in severity over time and most were resolved within 2 weeks. While Restylane Lyft is the first and only FDA-approved filler indicated to provide fullness to the mid face area (cheeks) and to correct and smooth the nasolabial folds, it can also be used off-label on the temples.

Adding volume to the mid-face region might require fillers to be injected into the temple and forehead to balance out a patient’s facial features. There are several FDA-approved dermal fillers on the market today enabling aesthetic plastic surgeons to customize treatments targeting various facial zones using different dermal fillers indicated for each respective area to produce natural-looking results with a longer shelf-life.
